The Labrador Retriever is a medium-sized dog with a muscular, strong and compact body. Its chest is broad and deep, and its back is straight.
This dog is slightly longer than it is tall. The head of the Labrador Retriever is broad and has an enlarged muzzle with a strong jaw. The stop is pronounced, the bite is scissor-like and the jaw is strong.
The Labrador dog's ears are medium-sized and hang down at the sides of the head, the coffee-coloured or brown eyes are lively and intelligent.
The tail, characteristic of this breed, is thick at the base and ends at the tip.
It has an abundant coat which gives it a rounded appearance. It should never be carried on its back.
The coat of the Labrador dog is short, dense and not wavy. This breed has a double coat: the inner coat is soft and waterproof, the outer coat is harder and helps to maintain waterproofing.
The colours of the Labrador are yellow, black and chocolate.
The latter ranges from light cream to reddish shades.
Small white spots on the chest are allowed. For males, the height at withers is approximately 56/57 centimetres. For females, the height at withers is between 54 and 56 centimetres.
The weight of the males is between 27 and 34 kilograms. Females weigh between 25 and 32 kilograms.
